Job Summary:

The Wind Energy Training Instructor will operate in the Safety and Technical Training Department of Sky Climber Renewables – an exclusive wind technician development program built in partnership with the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturer, Vestas Americas. 

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Technical/University Education degree OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Trainer/Instructor.
  • Global Wind Organization (GWO) and/or wind energy instructor credentials preferred

  • Proficient with electrical test equipment and reading schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct classroom and lab training utilizing effective instructional techniques, practices, and following approved curriculum.
  • Provide training to build a foundation of safety and technical knowledge related to the operation and maintenance of wind turbines, including but not limited to: GWO (BST, BTT, ART) or Working-at-Heights, Lock-Out Tag-Out, Electrical Safety, Basic Electrical, Basic Mechanical, Basic Hydraulics, Cranes and Rigging, CPR/First-Aid, Confined Space and Self-Rescue.
  • Utilize training equipment, structures, simulators, and aids in daily lessons.
  • Design training aids and mock-ups in area of instructor expertise.
  • Administer exercises and tests by use of predetermined objective criteria.
  • Process training records and maintain files and databases.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration and repair on lab equipment and other instructional aids.
  • Initiate requisitions for consumable supplies and equipment repairs.
  • Maintain and inventory of supplies and equipment and assure security for each.
  • Maintain inventory of all instructional program capital equipment.
  • Supervise employees as assigned.
  • Support fellow instructors with instructor certification and other EHS initiatives/activities.
  • Meet and stay current on EHS classroom instructor qualifications.
  • Ensure that students follow all established policies, procedures, and safety practices.
  • Ensure that a professional training and learning environment is always maintained in the classroom and lab areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Must be comfortable working at heights of up to 300+ feet
  • Must meet specific weight requirements of tower ladders under OSHA and/or industry standards of 250 to 300 lbs. max, including personal protective equipment (approx. 30-35lbs)
  • Must be comfortable working in confined space(s).
  • Must be able to see and move throughout facilities, training lab and equipment, offices, to conduct training, resolve work problems and facilitate processes; repetitive motion activities will be involved.
  • Occasional kneeling and squatting.
  • Frequent climbing, walking, and standing, and bending.
  • Ability and willingness to handle repetitive weight up to 50 lbs.
  • Successful completion of climb test(s) and tower rescue training.
